Hunting the perfect partner to turkey
Do you produce, distribute or market the perfect accompaniment to turkey? The British Turkey industry is on the hunt for stuffings, sauces, marinades, garnishes, gravies – anything that complements the delicious taste of British Turkey – to enter its prestigious annual awards.
Says Kim Burgess, chairman of the British Turkey Sector Group’s Publicity & Marketing Committee: “This is always one of the best-entered categories of our awards – and the one that the independent panel of judges say is hardest to choose a winner. In fact, last year they awarded two trophies – to a new fresh cranberry sauce by Ocean Spray and a divine orange and cranberry stuffing from The Shropshire Spice Company. They said they were both fantastic but so different they couldn’t choose between them!”
Representatives of the three short-listed Best British Turkey Accompaniments will be invited to a gala dinner and dance at Claridges on September 21 when comedian Brian Conley will provide the entertainment and present the awards.
Added Burgess: “This category gives producers the chance to showcase their products to the whole British Turkey industry – producers, farmers and buyers. This is a category that knows no bounds, so we are looking forward to some hugely innovative entries which complement the growing use of British Turkey as an all-year-round meat, including for barbecues.”
