Oar-some achievement for British Turkey
Five times Olympic gold medal rower Sir Steve Redgrave made sure he was safely on dry land to accept a hefty £6,000 cheque from the British Turkey industry on behalf of the children’s medical charity SPARKS.
Kim Burgess, chairman of the British Turkey Sector Group’s Publicity and Marketing Committee, told Sir Steve the money had been raised at the annual British Turkey Awards.
She said: “This was the first year we have linked to a charity and we were delighted and amazed at the generosity of our guests and members.”
The British Turkey Awards showcase the efforts of retailers and manufacturers to encourage consumers to buy and enjoy British Turkey, plus recognise the talents and hard work of recipe writers, chefs and butchers.
