Diamond Jubilee
Schools Competition Winners
We are delighted that one of the four schools which won the Love British Food Cook for The Queen competition has included British turkey on their winning menu!
Students, aged 12-13, from Latimer Arts College, Kettering created a stunning menu which included Regal Turkey Crowns and a Dainty Elizabeth – a fine sage & onion scone base nesting a beautiful bird with a fanned turkey meat tail, a halved quail's egg body and a tomato head and beak, plus desserts such as Jubilee Jelly Bonnets. It was chosen by Mark Flanagan, Royal Chef at Buckingham Palace from over 200 entries, along with three other schools. The students will be invited to Buckingham Palace in June to see their recipes served at a special reception attended by The Queen and The Duchess of Cornwall in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee.
As well as the trip to the palace, British Turkey is sending Olympic Badminton Medallist and turkey fan Gail Emms to the school to run a special PE lesson for the students, plus £500 for including turkey on the menu.
The students celebrated their win by throwing their very own Jubilee party and made their dishes for their parents and the local community – we think the food looks delicious! Well done to them.
