The great thing about turkey is that everyone loves it – especially the kids. And if you get them to help with the cooking, you’ll find they’ll be even more keen to clear their plates. Children just love getting their hands messy – so let them help with shaping meatballs, threading meat and vegetables onto skewers, mixing salads or decorating pizzas. Research shows that children who learn to cook at an early age eat a healthier diet when they finally leave home and fend for themselves – so you could be setting them up for life.
If you need inspiration for dishes to cook with your children check out some of our recipes specially created with kids in mind. Let the children put the finishing touches to our Turkey Hedgehogs – great for a children’s party. The recipe for Juicy Turkey, Basil and Corn Burgers was created for us by TV chef Phil Vickery. With a houseful of children to cater for, he knows what kids like! Let your youngsters help to stir the turkey mixture and shape the burgers. We’d also love to hear what you and your family like – tell us your favourite recipe to make together and we’ll post the best on the website for other families to share.
Remember - always supervise young children in the kitchen.
