British Turkey Awards 2011

A magical evening was had by all who attended the 15th annual British Turkey Awards 2011 at the UnderGlobe, London on 22 September.

The Alice in Wonderland theme complete with The White Rabbit running amok, a chessboard dance floor and even miniature menus with magnifying glasses on the table settings made for a memorable occasion. 220 guests from turkey producers to supermarkets buyers and journalists sat down to a delicious turkey meal created by winners of a British Turkey student chef competition which showcased the breast, leg and even wing meat.

Following an industry speech by Paul Kelly, Vice Chairman, British Turkey Federation, and charity fundraising for Sparks and Dravet Syndrome, guests were treated to an enchanting LED light performance by the Halo Glow Show.

The highlight of the evening then took place as Strictly Come Dancing's Anton Du Beke hosted the awards presentation alongside Lorna Cousins, chair of the British Turkey Publicity and Marketing Committee, Ray Clemence, ex football goalkeeper and patron of the charity Sparks and sponsors.

The winner of the coveted Retailer of the Year award was Asda. Other winners included Sainsbury's Turkey Stir Fry with Red Pepper and Pak Choi for Best Innovation and Kelly Turkeys KellyBronze Turkey was handed the trophy for Best Christmas Traditional Product.
